About the Program
The humanities are a group of academic disciplines that provide a perspective through which students might think about and respond to the world. The study of our humanity through various lenses helps us develop an understanding of the human experience and reflect upon the value, purpose, and meaning of our lives and society in a systematic way.
Humanities is a transfer program housed in the Communication Arts, Humanities and Fine Arts division. Transfer programs are for students who plan to continue their education at a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor’s degree. Some students take humanities courses to fulfill the humanities and fine arts requirement for a transfer degree, others take humanities courses as part of a plan to major in humanities. Many students also take humanities courses as electives.
