Career Certificate

Yoga Teacher Certificate (Plan 23DA)

This 14 credit hour certificate program prepares students to teach yoga to adults in yoga studios, health clubs, park districts, or any other venue where a yoga teacher is needed. Instruction includes technique, pedagogy, history, culture and theory involved in yoga studies and practice. This program is intended to fulfill the requirements of the Yoga Alliance 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Registration. Yoga Alliance is the nationally recognized organization that regulates yoga teaching standards. Students who complete their yoga teacher training at CLC may register online with Yoga Alliance. The Yoga Instructor Certificate enables instructors to teach Level I and Level II Hatha Yoga to groups and individuals.

Associate Transfer Degree

Dance A.A. (Plan 13AB)

The transfer degree is typically completed in two years and provides the foundation for a bachelor’s degree at a 4-year institution.The 60-credit-hour degree program includes 24 credit hours in dance as well as the traditional general education requirements.

Dance requirements include 12 credits of introductory and intermediate courses in both ballet and modern dance. Additional three-credit courses in jazz dance, yoga, dance composition and special dance forms—such as hip-hop and capoiera—can be chosen to fulfill the remaining 12 credits of the requirement. Each three-credit dance course offers a history of the form, as well as instruction in the physical technique.

Illinois Subsequent Dance Teaching Endorsement

Illinois educators can now earn a Subsequent Teaching Endorsement inDance透过中科舞蹈部。该背书适用于在伊利诺斯州已经持有职业教育许可证(PEL)的教育工作者。

Endorsement Requirements for Special PK-12 in Dance includes:

  • 18 hours of credit. All coursework must be at the 100-level or higher and with a grade of "C" or higher from a regionally accredited college or institution.
  • Dance (140/209) test. [Tests are taken through the Illinois State Board of Education].
