What inspires me about my field:I’m fascinated with the opportunity to use economic theories to explain all manner of human actions and interactions. An economist must be part mathematician, part psychologist, part sociologist, part politician, part historian and part scientist.

Teaching full time at CLC since:Fall 2019; spent over 7 years as a CLC adjunct teaching both microeconomics and macroeconomics classes. Prof. Vasumathi Raman also has taught at other Illinois community colleges since 2009.

Teaching full time at CLC since:2012; previously spent four years as a CLC adjunct while serving as quality assessment manager in the college’s office of Institutional Effectiveness, Planning and Research. Professor White also has taught at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Waukesha County Technical College, Lakeland College, Marian College and Milwaukee Area Technical College. Her business experience includes 12 years at Harley-Davidson Motor Co. and five years in the insurance industry.

Subjects taught at CLC:Macroeconomics and microeconomics.

Education:B.S., University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; M.A., University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

What inspires me about my field:I’m fascinated with economics’ application to everyday life. When we make decisions related to purchases, or when we make choices about what we will do with our time and resources, it relates to the field of economics.
