Teaching full time at CLC since:1993.

Subjects taught at CLC:Medical terminology, legal and ethical aspects of medical records, quality management, information systems, health statistics, management and arranging students’ clinical site affiliations.

Other professional experience:2013年获得美国健康信息管理协会凯旋教育家奖;2012年获得伊利诺斯州健康信息管理协会杰出成员奖。She held supervisory positions in the health information departments of hospitals in Chicago and Hammond, Ind.

Education:Ph.D., Loyola University Chicago; M.B.A., Roosevelt University; Health Information Administration (R.H.I.A.), Stephens College; B.S., Calumet College of St. Joseph.

Credentials:RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator).

Main goal in teaching:教学不仅仅是传递知识。我真心希望学生们能在生活和职业上取得成功。每个学生都有独特的背景和生活经历,教学就是要激励每个学生充分发挥他们的潜力。我的目标是为我们所有的学生提供知识和技能,使他们准备迎接卫生信息管理专业和劳动力的挑战。

Other professional experience:Previously logged 18 years of experience in the health care field with 10 years of management and education experience for physicians and staff in private practice; also coded medical records at the Mayo Clinic.

Subjects taught at CLC:Medical terminology, healthcare delivery, basic and advanced coding, insurance procedures, medical science and healthcare reimbursement.

Credentials:RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician).

Education:B.S., Winona State University; later earned an A.A.S. in health information technology from CLC; currently completing a master’s program at the University of Illinois-Springfield.

What inspires me about my field:The speed at which the medical industry is constantly changing due to technology and science.

Education:B.S., Northern Illinois University, A.A.S. in health information technology from CLC.

What inspires me about my field:There is so much more to the health information technology field than people realize. HIT professionals are the guardians of health care data and this data is growing exponentially and becoming readily available as technology keeps evolving. It is our responsibility to ensure the security and privacy of this data. I’m excited to be part of this field and hope to inspire students to explore and grow in this field.
