Legal Studies Internship (LGL 250)
About the Internship
The Legal Studies Program Internship is a three-credit hour elective course in which eligible students report to an assigned site for aminimum of 120 hoursover the course of the semester in exchange for course credit. The Internship has a one hour per week online class component conducted by the Legal Studies Department. The internship is unpaid and the schedule for reporting shall be agreed upon by the individual student and host site at the start of the semester. Most placements require weekday availability, at least one day per week. Most students report to their site for about 10-12 hours per week. The internship is offered only in the spring semester.
The internship is ideally for those students who are nearly finished with their studies.
Prerequisites
To ensure that students participating in the internship possess a certain level of skill and knowledge, students must have completed, at the very, least the following three courses with a grade of C or better:
The more PLS/LGL coursework the student has completed, the better chance for success in the internship placement. It is strongly preferred that a student has completed elective courses that directly relate to the desired internship site.

Declare Your Major
The internship course is designed to prepare graduating LGL students for the job market. If a student has not declared a LGL major, that student should do so prior to requesting internship placement. Forms for declaring a major are available in theRegistrar & Recordsoffice.
Prior to Enrolling
Internship is a course that is designed to prepare graduating Legal Studies students for the job market. Students must contact the Internship Instructor, Gayle Miller, prior to enrollment to receive consent to enroll. Interested students should submit a resume and a list of current and completed LGL courses with grades earned via email attachment togmiller@clcillinois.edu
Once there has been a placement discussion and agreement, students will gain consent to enroll in the course.
