Specialties:Criminal law and family law.

Teaching full time at CLC since:2012;previously taught for 10 years at the College of DuPage, Roosevelt University and Kaplan University. She has substantive experience with online, hybrid and traditional course delivery.

Subjects taught at CLC:Litigation, law office technology, legal research and drafting legal documents.

Other professional experience:Lawyer withexperience as a solo practitioner; concentrating in criminal defense and family law, as a staff attorney with the Cook County Public Guardian’s Office and as a hearing officer with the Illinois Toll Authority. Active member of the American Bar Association, Lake County Bar Association and the American Association for Paralegal Education.

Education:B.S. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a J.D. from the Loyola University Chicago’s School of Law.

Main goal in teaching:我的主要目标是帮助学生理解并认识到教育是一种生活方式,而不是通往工作的旅程。我鼓励学生成为批判性思考者和终身学习者。我希望学生们在离开我的课堂时,不会仅仅关注于教授的内容,而是关注于如何思考教授的内容。

Professor Miller won the 2019 AAFPE national teaching competition and received the NISOD award for 2020-21 for excellence in teaching.

Education:B.A. in Criminal Justice with Honors and Distinction, University of Illinois at Chicago; juris doctor with Honors, Chicago-Kent College of Law. Admitted to practice in Illinois and United Supreme Court.

What inspires me about my field:What excites me most about teaching in a career program is that I witness the awesome presence of potential, and the transformation from student to polished professional time and time again.
