New James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts executive director joins CLC

College of Lake County (CLC) welcomes Alisa Baum as the new executive director of theJames Lumber Center for the Performing Arts (JLC). Baum began the position May 23.

"For 25 years, the James Lumber Center for Performing Arts has presented high-quality, diverse programming,” Baum said. “As the newly appointed executive director, I am honored to continue this tradition, joining the JLC team to create joy and increase connection with Lake County residents through the arts."

As the executive director, Baum oversees programming as well as overall operations. She plans to expand the ways the JLC interacts with the people in the Lake County community.

“The JLC programming is about what the community wants,” she said. “I want to help bring in what may be missing.”

Before coming to CLC, Baum worked as a program director for the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events from 2018-2022.

Baum earned her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell College and a Master of Arts in music business/arts, entertainment, and media management from Columbia College.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of the JLC team,” Baum said. “It’s such a good group with so much expertise in the arts field. We're looking toward the future and seeing what kinds of new things we can present."
